Day 11. Rainy Days and Wednesdays Always Make me Smile

HOME– For twelve years now, Wednesday night has been our date night. In our first {ahem} six years of actual dating, we would meet up after work in a small cafe for coffee and a shared dessert. After we married, we gradually forgot about our special Wednesdays and some weeks, Wednesday was remarkable only in its proximity to the weekend.

This year, Wednesdays returned like a long lost boomerang, practically knocking us down in delightful surprise. Over the spring and summer, almost every Wednesday afternoon, we found ourselves inside our local, dark and cool, independent film theater, watching a foreign film or an independent documentary. No matter what we were up to on Wednesday around three o’clock, we dropped it and ran off on our romantic adventure. There’s no better escape from a hot afternoon than a good movie and a bag of buttery popcorn shared with your best friend.

And tonight, on this cold and rainy fall evening, there was no better escape than a good movie, watched from the couch, in front of a roaring fire, shared with my best friend.

Tonight’s feature is Elsa and Fred- a wry, romantic film about two elderly neighbors who fall in love and travel to live out Elsa’s Fellini fantasy in Rome. It makes you feel like you’re falling in love all over again. And I suppose I am.

It makes me smile (big one) you kept the tradition of keeping your date afternoon or night on Wednesday, your special day. And if you fall in love all over again, I will have a bigger smile. :)

I thought I had missed much more, but I found my bookmark from last time! We have a nice little theater here too, but have been only once, before the baby. Its geared toward those who dont have, like, plan, or can have kiddos. Its so nice though, they have many microbrews, and a few bar type offerings that aren’t terrible. Its silly, my favorite bar hands down, its close to our home, though we haven’t been there either since the baby because the smoke is so heavy. They have the best bar food, the owners are these hot 60 something year old twins who are the cutest, sweetest ladies you’ll ever meet. They use to be mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs (and models) which we have to go see soon, because the state is closing the mermaid part since it became a state park. They have many ads they did in the 60′s hanging up all around the bar. Funny I grew up in bars. My DAV SGT daddy was the bartender at the VFW, and I remember playing pool by reaching high to grab the balls on the edge of the table and then throwing them to try and hit the other balls. Then they would give me a jar of peanut butter they had stored behind the bar just for me, no wonder I have weight issues!
