Day 21. Bundles of Fragrant Oregano
HOME– It was a gorgeous fall day today. The temperature felt soft and easy on on my face and when the wind blew, a blush of cold kissed my nose like a happy child.
This is classic scarf weather and I’m practicing my best French twists around my neck. Everyone seemed to be out and about- walking, meandering, grocery shopping, or just hanging out.
Near the end of the day, we gathered some long tendrils of oregano into bunches. Rich hammered a line of silver nails onto a board and hung the scented broom-like bouquets in our basement to dry.
We’ve never tried this before, but I sure like the feeling it gives you. It feels like you’re saving them from the inevitable first frost to come.
It feels like you’re honoring them. It also feels like huge pots of slow-cooked spaghetti sauce and spicy meatballs are in our future.

How lovely to have bunches or oregano. One of my favorite things.

I love me a nice tied up bundle of dried oregno. I jst keep it in glass “bouquet style” by the stove and shake it over things as I cook. It’s so rustic and romantic! GREG
